A pair of heavy-gauge insulated copper cables with large alligator clips at each end. They allow a vehicle with a dead battery to be started by connecting it to the battery of a running vehicle. The thickness of the wire (gauge) is critical; thicker cables transfer power more efficiently and are needed for larger engines. High-quality clips are copper-coated for better conductivity.
