The cleaning mitt (or wash mitt) is a glove worn during the contact wash phase. It is usually made of microfiber chenille “noodles” or genuine sheepskin wool. These materials are designed to lift and trap dirt particles deep within their fibers, keeping them away from the paint surface to prevent scratching. Unlike a sponge which pushes dirt around like sandpaper, a mitt pulls dirt away. It has an elastic cuff to keep it on your hand.
