Exhaust clamps are heavy-duty metal fasteners used to join two sections of exhaust pipe together or to secure the muffler to the tailpipe. They typically come in two styles: the “U-bolt” style, which crimps the pipes together, or the “band” clamp, which wraps around the joint for a cleaner seal. These clamps ensure a gas-tight fit to prevent noise and leaks. Because they are located under the car and exposed to road salt and heat cycles, they are prone to severe rusting, often requiring them to be cut off during repairs.
