While similar to a foam pad, a polish applicator is typically covered in microfiber cloth or made of a coarser foam density. This texture provides the necessary “bite” or mechanical cutting action required when hand-polishing scratches or oxidation. The microfiber weave helps break down the abrasives in the polish more effectively than soft foam. It is designed to be ergonomic, reducing hand fatigue during the repetitive circular motions needed to remove defects.
