The washer nozzle (or jet) is the small plastic outlet mounted on the hood or cowl that sprays fluid onto the glass. Modern nozzles are designed to atomize the fluid into a fine fan-shaped mist for better coverage, rather than a single stream. They contain tiny internal passages that can easily become clogged with wax, dirt, or mineral deposits from using tap water. A clogged nozzle results in a weak dribble or no spray at all, even if the pump is working perfectly. They are often adjustable to aim the spray at the center of the glass.
